Let’s Talk Writing!

At Squared we really like Google Drive as a collaborative writing, editing, and sharing tool. It allows for multiple Drive users to work on a single document. Although some people criticize Drive for having limited functionality, I cannot think of a single thing that you can do in any other word processor that you can’t do in Drive. The exception, of course, is waiting for the program to load on your computer.

Writing in the Cloud
One of my favorite benefits of Drive is that everything saves to the cloud almost as fast as you can type it. It also saves you the trouble of having to upload the document as an attachment or worrying about the hassles of having someone look over it and mark it up and send it back. Since it’s on the cloud you can type up a document, then share it within a minute of its completion.

So say that you have just finished a short story. You have it edited and formatted to the best of your ability. Now instead of having someone look over it by sending it via email, all you have to do is click the share button at the top of the page and set the sharing options so that anyone with the link can comment and/or edit it for you. Then all you have to do is post that link with Squared and we’ll make sure someone finds it. In fact we will make sure a lot of people find it!

A Writing Community

One way that we will get your writing out there to be edited and formatted is through our community on Google+. You can post a link to your document in the community and set sharing options so that anyone who clicks on the link will be able to comment and/or edit your document. If you would prefer that no one interacts with your document (by the way, it is more expedient to let people at least comment), you can change the sharing settings anytime you’d like.

So here’s a little video put out by Google that will help you understand which free technologies Squared plans to use:
